Demons want a key forward amid growing Luke Jackson fears

Melbourne is “absolutely” in the market for a key forward, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.

The Demons are eyeing a tall forward amid growing fears over Luke Jackson’s future at the club.

Edmund says Melbourne is now “concerned” that Jackson will leave for Fremantle in the off-season.

The 20-year-old forward/ruckman remains out of contract with the Demons and is the subject of reported interest from the Dockers.

“The Demons have gone from being supremely confident about keeping Luke Jackson to a growing realization, I think it’s fair to say, that he’s leaving for Fremantle,” Edmund said on SEN Mornings.

“They are concerned at the moment.

“What we do know though is that the Demons are absolutely in the market for a key forward.

“They’ve tried and failed on a couple already this year to get them on the hook.”

With Jackson potentially returning home to Western Australia, could the Demons set their sights on Dockers mock Rory Lobb?

Lobb was linked with a move to GWS in last year’s trade period and has once again come up in trade discussions, with the Western Bulldogs emerging as a suitor for the 29-year-old.

“I would’ve thought there’s a fair chance now that someone like Rory Lobb ends up in the red and blue next year,” Edmund suggested.

“He wanted out of Fremantle for a year. Melbourne would appear to offer him that avenue.

“Luke Jackson goes, Rory Lobb comes in.”

Lobb is contracted to Fremantle until the end of 2023.
